Home Depot brings 120 jobs to Birmingham metro area

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Dozens of new jobs are now available in the Birmingham metro area.
Home Depot wants to fill eighty thousand seasonal jobs across the country. Of that, 120 jobs are here in the Birmingham area. Store officials say they need more workers because the housing market is doing well and Spring is near.

The company began the hiring process this past Wednesday. They're looking to fill positions in the gardening department, cashiers, and in other departments as well. Dr. Matthew Mazzei, a Business Professor at Samford University, says Home Depot's hiring spree could mean a spin off of more jobs at other companies in that industry.

"It's looks like it's pretty typical in that particular industry. I think it's important that they hire the right people with great service because that's where they are adding value," Dr. Mazzei said.
