NTSB holding investigative hearing on UPS Flight 1354 crash

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON D.C. - The NTSB is holding a day-long investigative hearing into the UPS cargo plane crash that killed two pilots on their approach to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport last August.

Pilot Cerea Beal, Jr., and co-pilot Shanda Fanning died when the UPS Flight 1354 crashed short of Runway 18 on its way in from the Louisville International Airport in Kentucky on Aug. 14, 2013.

The NTSB plans to discuss non-precision approaches, human factors and flight dispatch that may have contributed to the crash.

The hearing is a fact-finding hearing, which does not assign fault, blame or legal liability for an accident or incident.

During the morning session, the NTSB heard from a technical panel, and a panel on human factors began at 11:30 a.m. central time. Click here to view the live stream of the event.
