Congressman Spencer Bachus, along with Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange and other dignitaries and citizens were on hand to reveal the creation.

Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth’s great-grandson, Jarred Bester, was also on hand to help unveil the work of art.

The mural measures 34 feet long and 6 feet tall.

It features Civil Rights images from Birmingham, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail”, the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, the Childrens’ Crusade and more.

The mural is located at a Wells Fargo Bank on 18th Street South, near the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Wells Fargo also donated $7,500 to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.
