Eufaula hosts Take A Warrior Fishing

Posted: Updated:
EUFAULA, Ala. - In cooperation with the Corps of Engineers, Friends of Lake Eufaula will organize and host a “Take a Warrior Fishing” event at White Oak Creek Park on Saturday, May 10.

The Lake Eufaula event will begin with a light breakfast, orientation for all participants and a light angling competition in which merchandise and prizes will be awarded to Warriors. There will also be boating, swimming and bank fishing for families followedby a BBQ lunch for all participants and volunteers.

This event is designed to support disabled and impaired armed service members and their families by creating an adaptive, community-based, outdoors recreation experience through the sport of fishing. The objective is to increase family interaction, encourage outdoor recreation, and support positive community activities for individuals most affected by military related injuries.

Friends of Lake Eufaula and the Corps of Engineers are seeking corporate support for the event.

Volunteers will also be needed for various roles. Owners of pontoon boats, deck boats and cruisers are encouraged to contribute their time and equipment for family recreation. Bass anglers will be needed to support the fishing competition.  Other volunteers may help the children fish from the bank.

For more information, contact the US Army Corps of Engineers at (334) 232-4542.
