School board member John Wells to run for re-election

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Muscogee County School Board member John Wells officially announced his candidacy for re-election today.

Wells has served on the Muscogee County school board for 28 years. He currently serves as the chairman of the finance committee and says he'll continue to guide the district financially even with cuts from the state.

He says his experience will help him continue to serve the students of Muscogee County schools.

“I'm going to continue to use my years of experience in business and community service to deliver the very best education possible to the students and the district. I always remember my motto and focus and that's students first,” says Wells.

Wells serves on the District 2 seat. He’s being challenged by Bart Steed, the owner of a Columbus auto store -- Kar-Tunes Car Stereo. Steed is expected to make an official announcement for his candidacy next week.
