COLUMBUS, Ga. -
Contestants for the 2014 Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen pageant spent the weekend in Columbus to kick off the pageant season. Contestants spent Saturday in seminars and workshops that taught them how to do their best during the summer competition. Current Miss Georgia, Carly Mathis, and Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen, Kelly Hutchinson, had some advice for the new group of young women.
"I sat in the same room for 3 consecutive years hearing the same speal over and over again but it was all worth it and worth the hard work. So even if you didn't make the top 10 the year before it doesn't mean that you're not going to do well this year. So just don't give up and believe in yourself," said Miss Georgia Carly Mathis.
"I'm just trying to encourage the girls to really just take it all in and not really worry about it. Just go into in open minded and just keep in mind that this is for fun and it isn't too serious but to really just give it your all and go for it," said Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen Kelly Hutchinson.
The Miss Georgia pageant will be held June 18-21 at the Columbus RiverCenter.
