Soldiers discover human remains in Hoke Co.

WAGRAM, N.C. -

Soldiers participating in a training exercise in Hoke County have discovered human remains in a wooded area in the 600 block of N. Hilltop Road near Wagram.

The Hoke County Sheriff's Office is on the scene conducting the death investigation. Members of the North Carolina State Medical Examiner's Office have been contacted as the remains appear to have been in the area for awhile.

The sheriff's office said the remains are scattered across a large area.

No other details were immediately released.
