LINDEN, N.C. -
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Linden after one person was killed and two others were injured.
The shooting occurred in the 8900 block of Durant Nixon Rd. Dwayne Larry Sawyer, 27, of the 10000 block of Colliers Chapel Church Road in Linden died of a gunshot wound.
An investigation determined that Sawyer was inside the home when a suspect shot through the front door and window.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office identified the two injured people as Dominique Wiley, 22, of the home where the shooting happened, and her friend, Darius Elliot, 33, of an unknown address. Both were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies said Wiley and Elliot were unaware of the shooter’s intentions.
In a press release, the Sheriff's Office said deputies would like to talk to Roderick Nathaniel Davis, 32, whose last known address is in the 200 block of Prospect Church Road in Erwin. The Sheriff's Office said Davis is wanted for questioning only.
Davis was last seen driving a grey-colored Chrysler PT Cruiser or Chevrolet HHR. The Sheriff's Office described Davis as a black male, six feet tall, and weighing about 165 pounds. He has brown eyes and long black dreadlocks.
