AUBURN, AL -
Auburn back on the practice field continuing spring drills. Head coach Gus Malzahn says one of the points of emphasis during today's workout was the red zone.
One player who could certainly contribute in the red zone this upcoming season is sophomore wide receiver Marcus Davis. He had a pretty good year in his freshman season: 23 receptions and one touchdown. Malzahn believes Davis could certainly contribute more in 2014.
"Marcus is a guy that I know our quarterbacks have a lot of confidence in," Malzahn said. "He's a very crisp route runner. He knows how to get open. He's got that natural knack. He can make a big play like he showed last year. You can tell he's a more confident guy. You can tell our quarterbacks have that comfort with him. He's a guy that's going to be a big factor in our pass game moving forward."
Malzahn was asked how he's going to handle the arrest of 2015 Auburn commit Jason Smith. He was arrested over the weekend in Mobile on drug charges. Malzahn said, "We'll see," when they gather all of the facts.
