RALEIGH, N.C. - Changes are coming to Saint Augustine's University’s Executive Management Team, President Dianne Boardley Suber said Thursday.

The University said a 2013 audit released to the media shed light on issues of ineffective oversight in the areas of financial and grants management in the school.

"We are at a critical juncture in both the University's present and future and we need to be vigilant in assuring that every administrator on the team shares both the mission and the vision of the University,” said Suber.

Suber said the University will conduct a vigorous review of administrative changes made in the business and financial operations.

The University said Suber does not need to confer with or receive prior approval from the Board of Trustees when it comes to personnel decisions.

"I am sensitive to the fact that Saint Augustine's University has been subject to a significant level of close scrutiny over the last several months and that any decisions or actions taken by me or any member of the administrative team are likely to draw additional and possibly unwarranted, attention” Suber said.

The University got a letter Thursday from its accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, known as SACS. It is reportedly taking a closer look at the financial situation at the school. SACS has the power to either put the school on probation or revoke accreditation.

That could lead to the school closing its doors.

SACS refused to comment or provide additional details on the letter.
