Lockdown lifted at Zebulon elementary school

ZEBULON, N.C. -

Wakelon Elementary School in Zebulon was under a lockdown for four hours Tuesday due to nearby law enforcement activity.

The school was notified of activity involving the Wake County Sheriff's Office around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at which point administrators made the decision to place Wakelon on a Code Yellow lockdown.

Code Yellow means no outside activity is permitted for students or staff.

The lockdown was lifted around 1:30 p.m.

Zebulon Elementary School also put on lockdown from 1:15 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. as a precautionary measure.
