BIRMINGHAM, AL - Two bodies were found in or near a house in Ensley this morning.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, the bodies of a man and a woman were found in or near a house in the 1300 block of 57th Place in Ensley. One body was removed from the house today around 12:30 p.m.

Darnetta Smith, the deceased woman's sister, says the victim's 7-year-old daughter found the two dead and then ran to a neighbor's house for help. That neighbor alerted police. Smith identified her sister as Sharday Ware and she was in her late 20's. Investigators say the two were shot to death. This case is being treated as a double homicide.

"She got a seven year old daughter that got to grow up without her momma. That's her baby. She's gone be old enough to remember this," Smith said.

Police say there's a suspicion of illegal drug activity in the house.

If you have any information about this case, please call Birmingham's Homicide Unit at 254-1764 or Crime stoppers at 254-7777.
