WALKER COUNTY, AL - Investigators remain on the scene of a church fire in the city of Dora.

The Free Gospel Deliverance Center of the Apostolic Faith Church went up in flames early Friday morning.

A passerby noticed the fire and contacted authorities around 6:00 a.m.

The church, located on Free Gospel Church Road, was recently burglarized and the pastor says he believes the two incidents are related.

During that incident the vandals broke windows and poured ketchup on the pastor’s robe.

According to the pastor, there has been an ongoing property dispute between two families after the current pastor replaced a previous one.

Investigators say the church did not have electricity or gas. They believe an accelerant was used to spread the flames.

Members from the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s office have been combing through the debris to try and determine how the fire was started.

Fred Davenport is on the scene and will have the latest on the story tonight on Alabama’s 13 News at 5 & 6.
