PINSON, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that injured an off-duty Birmingham Police Officer.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 5000 block of Gold Leaf Lane in Pinson. Chief Deputy Randy Christian says initial information is that an adult female friend was at the victim’s home when her husband arrived and knocked on the door. That’s when the husband fired three shots, hitting the off-duty officer in the hand, lower body, and back.

The victim was alert and talking when he was transported to UAB. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Police have obtained arrest warrants for 33-year-old Andre Devon Morgan of Birmingham in connection with the case. He's charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and attempted murder. He'll be held on $200,000 bond. Currently, he's at large.
