Morrisville police said Tuesday a couple found dead in their home was the result of a murder-suicide.
Also Tuesday, a 911 call was released by police that reveals close friends staying with the couple heard rapid gunshots from what the caller thought was a small caliber weapon.
On Monday morning, police found Melissa and Jonathan Preston dead in their home in the 2000 block of Weaver Forest Way.
Police said the victims died from wounds received from a revolver found at the scene.
According to a 911 call released Tuesday, the caller identifies himself as a close friend of the Prestons and that he and his wife had been visiting the couple from Washington State.
The caller tells the 911 operator that the couple went upstairs to the master bedroom and heard what he thought were gunshots.
The 911 operator asks, “And you said you heard shots in there?” and the caller replies “yes.”
The 911 operator then asks how many shots the caller heard. The caller replies, “probably 10 shots” and said that it sounded “like a small caliber gun.”
The dispatchers asks if there was an argument. The caller says "no" but knew the couple "as having problems." The caller did indicate that he heard Melissa yell Jonathan’s name during the gunshots.
The Prestons’ three children, who are all teenagers, were in school at the time of this incident and are now staying with family members.
Morrisville police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing. RELATED STORIES
