HOOVER, AL - Today is National Bike to School Day, and some Bluff Park Elementary school students are participating with a few bicycle parades.

The first parade began this morning with students riding their bikes from Shades Crest Baptist Church to Bluff Park Elementary School.

The students are scheduled to ride back to the church at the end of the school day.

Bike to School Day is a time to teach children and their parents about bike safety.

For the past week, safety experts from Children’s of Alabama taught safe biking habits to the Bluff Park students.

The experts also gave out bike helmets to students who needed them.
