Altercation between two security guards at gentleman's club leads to officer involved fatal shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A security officer is dead following a shooting involving another security officer at a Birmingham club.

It happened at the Foxx Trap Gentleman's Club and Sports Bar on 2nd Avenue North just before 4 a.m.

Birmingham police say two security officers got into a fight in the parking lot, when one drew his gun and began shooting.

A birmingham police officer who was working at the club confronted the security officer who was firing his gun and told him to drop his weapon, according to Lt. Sean Edwards with the Birmingham Police Department.

When the security officer did not comply, the Birmingham police officer fired his weapon, striking the security officer several times.

The security officer was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Lt. Edwards.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.

The other security guard, was not armed, according to Lt. Edwards. He is being treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
