BIRMINGHAM, AL - Investigators are busy working a second incident involving Birmingham police officer who was injured Saturday night.
Alabama’s 13 news has learned that the BPD officer was struck along Arkadelphia Road and I-20/59 Saturday night. Though very few details are coming in, initial reports indicate that this incident is not related to Birmingham police officer who was shot and killed Saturday night not far from this incident.
The officer who was struck was taken to a local hospital, no word yet on the severity of his injuries.
For more than an hour a large part of interstate was blocked off as investigators reviewed the scene. Traffic on both sides of the interstate was backed up for miles and as of midnight, traffic remained at a standstill.

Alabama’s 13 News has a crew  working this story and will provide updates online and on Today in Alabama at 5 a.m.
