FEMA reaching out to tornado survivors in Alabama

Crews from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are in the state this week offering assistance to survivors of the tornadoes and flooding that affected many parts of Alabama during the week of April 28.

The FEMA workers have announced plans to visit homes and businesses in Baldwin, Blount, Jefferson, Lee , Limestone and Tuscaloosa counties.

The crews will be equipped with tablets for survivors to register for FEMA assistance on site.

So far 1,140 survivors in Alabama have registered with the federal agency and $6,073,205 has been offered to aid in their recovery.

The nine counties eligible for disaster assistance include Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Blount, Etowah, Baldwin, Dekalb, Lee, Limestone and Mobile.
