Friends and family gathered for a prayer vigil to remember a Birmingham police officer who was murdered over the weekend.

Officer Keary Hollis was off-duty when he was shot to death Saturday night.  Investigators said it happened during an argument with Patrick Johnson. Johnson is charged with capital murder.

A candlelight vigil organized by the Birmingham Police Department's Chaplains Corps will be held at the West Precinct Wednesday.

A viewing for Officer Hollis will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Home on Cotton Avenue. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater New Antioch Baptist Church in Ensley. The burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Officer Hollis was a five-year veteran of the police force and father of four.
