ETOWAH COUNTY, AL - A hearing was held today for the Attalla woman charged with capital murder in the 2012 death of her granddaughter.

Authorities say Joyce Garrard punished Savannah Hardin for lying about eating candy and made the girl run for three hours straight.

The nine year-old girl collapsed and later died.

Today Garrard’s lawyers argued that prosecutors have not lived up to the judge’s schedule to turn over potential evidence.

They also were seeking bond for their client.

The judge denied their bond request today and scheduled Garrard's murder trial to begin September 22.

Meanwhile, the judge set a hearing date of June 19 to address other concerns presented today by the defense.
