Auburn man arrested for manslaughter after shooting death

Posted: Updated:
LEE COUNTY, Ala. - An Auburn man has been arrested following the May 11 shooting death of a man in Loachapoka, Sheriff Jay Jones confirms to WRBL News 3.

Dequavious Cobb was riding in a vehicle that was pulled over in Lee County Tuesday for a minor traffic violations, Sheriff Jones says. Cobb was not driving but authorities identified him as the man wanted in the shooting death of Mark Greathouse.

On May 12, Cobb and Greathouse are believed to have been involved in a heated argument inside a home in the Meadowview Trailer Parker, located in the 2800 block of Lee Road 188 in Loachapoka. Greathouse produced a gun and that lead to Cobb firing several shots from his own weapon, Sheriff Jones says.

Officials are still trying to determine what caused the argument and if the two men knew each other prior.

After the shooting, a warrant was issued for Cobb's arrest. He was arrested Tuesday in connection with that warrant and an unrelated assault charge stemming from an earlier incident in Auburn.

Greathouse is being held at the Lee County Detention Center on $25,500 bond ahead of a hearing in front of a Lee County Grand Jury.
