PHENIX CITY, Ala. - A Phenix City woman who is accusing a Phenix City Police Department officer of police brutality is scheduled to speak before the city's council Monday afternoon. Elizabeth Coty-Green and her husband Spivey are scheduled to speak during the 3p et meeting about the alleged attack by Officer Mark Cameron.

On May 18, Green says Cameron came to their home with their daughter-in-law to pickup personal items. Green and the daughter-in-law had had a disagreement earlier in the day. Green says after refusing to let the woman and the officer into her home, the officer "grabbed me by the shirt and tried to yank me out the door," Green told News 3 in a May 23 interview. Green then says the officer wrestled her to the floor and punched her.

According to an incident report, Green was transported to the jail without incident or injury. Because of her injuries, however, she had to be rushed to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus by ambulance.

Green has been charged with Resisting arrest, Disorderly Conduct and second degree Assault. Her husband was charged with Resisting Arrest.

Phenix City Police Chief Ray Smith told WRBL News 3 in May that an officer is allowed to use whatever force he or she believes is necessary to arrest a suspect, and it's not considered excessive until after they are in cuffs.

Green said she will have to get surgery to fix her fractured eye socket, and still has to visit a neurologist for lasting migraines from the injury. The family has filed a lawsuit against the city following the attack.

WRBL News 3's request to Phenix City for additional documentation regarding the incident - including a copy of the 911 tapes - has been denied at this time.

WRBL News 3's David Hurst will be at today's Phenix City council meeting. The meeting begins at 3p et in the third floor conference room of the municipal building, located at 601 12th Street. Hurst will have updates throughout the afternoon on Twitter ahead WRBL News 3 First Edition at 5/4c on television.
