OXFORD, N.C. -

The 15-year-old daughter of a man stabbed to death by his wife early Wednesday morning says he was "stabbed in the neck by accident."

Rotonya Russell, 40, is charged with second-degree murder after deputies say she stabbed her husband in the neck at a home on Belltown Road in Oxford.

Sheriff Brindell B. Wilkins, Jr. said 35-year-old Carlos Russell was transported to Granville Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office was notified about the stabbing by the couple's 15-year-old daughter who told the dispatcher that her father was "stabbed in the neck by accident."

Rotonya Russell is being held on a $100,000 secured bond.
