BIRMINGHAM, AL - Somewhere in between the third-inning bouncy horse race, and the seventh-inning stretch, is a different kind of Birmingham Barons promotion.

"The Milwaukee Brewers have sausages, Cleveland Indians have hot dogs, Pittsburgh Pirates do a pirogue race, we threw ideas out to have a fast food race," Barons director of production Michael Ferko said.

A hot dog, taco, and chef began their rivalry last season at Regions Field.

"We don't this to just be a race," Ferko said  "We want to create characters."

"The pace was set early on with the hot dog cheating all the time," Jarrod Johnson, Barons assistant director of ticket operations said. "He set a precedent that he was the bad guy of the race."

The taco races by the book, while the chef is neutral and presents the biggest challenge to the hot dog.

For one night, Alabama's 13 Kyle Burger suited up as the chef.  Not because of his culinary skills, just because the costume would fit him the best.

The race begins at the centerfield tunnel, around the warning track, and finish at first base.
