NORTHPORT, AL - "I can run, I can catch, I can do it all," Le'Ron McClain said.

The former University of Alabama fullback is waiting for a phone call.

McClain, an eight-year NFL veteran, was released by the San Diego Chargers in March.

"It's a long process to be a free agent," McClain said.  "It's out of my hands now. All I can do is come to this gym everyday, give all I have.

"Just train to be ready when they call," McClain added.  "I know a team is going to call, just when they call I need to be ready."

The fullback, who ran through SEC defenses while in his college days, said, at 29-years-old, he still brings that same intensity.

"I conisder myself one of the top fullbacks in the league with what i do, blocking-wise," McClain said. "That's something I take pride in every since I left Alabama."

McClain takes the game seriously, which is why you will find him in the gym just about everyday.  But to find that competitive balance, his annual kids football camp this Saturday, reminds him the game is still about having fun.

"I've been in the league for 8-10 years, it's still a kids game," McClain said.  "Kids running around taking coaching from players like myself, I take pride in that. Teaching them how to take the right steps in a running back drill or right technique, leverage on a blocking drill."

The Tuscaloosa County High School graduate will be hosting this camp for a seventh-straight year.

"It's a blessing to come back to my hometown to do this camp," McClain said.  "Just going through my mom's neighborhood and passing out flyers and seeing the childrens' face light up and enjoying themselves.

"It's something I look forward to every summer."

The free camp will be held Saturday at American Christian Academy, at 2300 Veterans Memorial Parkway in Tuscaloosa from 8:00am until 12:30pm.
