Birmingham-area workers participate in “Take your dog to work day”

Employees at Big Communications in Birmingham joined workers across the nation in the annual “Take your dog to work day.”

The day is celebrated each year to encourage employers to embrace the joys of having pets in the workplace. The initiative also aims to highlight the local pet community and encourage more people to adopt.

"Since Big was founded, we've always felt that a dog-friendly workplace creates an environment of creativity and camaraderie," says President John Montgomery. "This day is a fun way to celebrate the animals who bring so much to our lives and our work."

Today Big communications, along with Ferocious Dogs and CahaBones, used the day to raise money for the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.

Ferocious dogs set up shop outside of the Big office selling dog treats with a portion of its sales doing to the humane society.

"We always look forward to Take Your Dog to Work Day. It's the perfect opportunity to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoptions from the GBHS and other local shelters," said Nancy Ellis, Director of Marketing & Branding for GBHS.

The humane society also gave people a chance to visit with pets that are up for adoption.
