Georgia adds former Alabama assistant Letson to staff

Posted: Updated:
ATHENS, Ga. - Former college player and coach Ronnie Letson has been hired as the University of Georgia football Director of Player Personnel.

UGA head coach Mark Richt announced the move in a news release Monday afternoon.

“Ronnie has a vast wealth of knowledge in both on-field coaching and organizational skills that will be a great asset to our program,” said Richt in the release. “His career has been spent in the southeast and he knows the landscape of college football.”

Letson was most recently the wide receivers coach at Samford, but spent only four months with the Bulldogs after being hired in February. Previously, he spent 2013 as an offensive analyst at the University of Alabama.

The majority of his coaching career has been spent at Jacksonville State. Letson was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach there from 2004-12.

Prior to that, he spent the 2003 and 2004 season as an offensive and defensive graduate assistant at Ole Miss, where he also played, earning three letters and graduating in 1999.
