BIRMINGHAM, AL - "Let's get this skeeball rolling!" Laura Pate yells into a microphone at Cahaba Brewing Company.

Once a week at the brewery friends gather, beer flows, and skeeballs roll...

"Can I get a big yay it's Thursday and skeeball night?" Pate exclaims once more.

Pate and Caitlin Blackerby are co-Skee-E-O's, as in CEO's, of the Cahaba Skeeball League.

The league's third skee-son. That's right, skee-son.

"We've got the skee-spirit awards, the most valuable mv-skee, we have a lot of ones," Pate said of the play-on words.

The Skee-E-O's created the league as a fun way to get the word out about the brewery.

"Alright let's buy some skeeball machines," Pate said.

"They are actually antiques," Blackerby added.  "We bought two of them. We started there. We recently acquired two more. That way if one breaks, one is out right now. It's good for extra parts."

The league consists of seven teams, made up of three rollers and an alternate.

"Everybody has their own strategy, which hand do you use, you have to get your steps right," Blackerby said.  "It's a lot like bowling in that way. Kiss the ball."

"The guys are really competitive about this," Pate said.  "Who can get the most hundos."

"That's all I go for," Garrett Shipp said.  "I don't look at any other numbers. It's just all hundreds."

Whatever the strategy, the end result is always the same.

"It's just something fun to do on a Thursday night," Shipp said.  "A chance to hang out with family or friends."
