The child’s father, 33 year-old Justin Ross Harris, has been charged with felony murder and cruelty to a child in the case.

Ross, a former Tuscaloosa resident, told authorities he forgot to drop his child off at daycare and ended up driving to work. After staying at work all day, he then got back into the car and began to head home. He claimed that’s when he realized the baby was still in the back seat.

Investigators say Harris pulled over and tried to revive the child. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Harris is being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The funeral for Cooper Mills Harris is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the University Church of Christ in Tuscaloosa. The visitation is scheduled for noon Saturday. A private family burial will follow the services.
