Cherokee County woman hospitalized in domestic dispute, man arrested

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect in a domestic violence disturbance.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Gaylesville Sunday morning. They found the female victim with injuries at home alone. Investigators say the suspect originally left the scene but returned and was arrested.

The woman was taken to the hospital. Deputies have not released any details on her injuries.

The suspect has been identified as 59 year-old Curtis Ray Baker. He has been charged with assault and second degree domestic violence.

Baker was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he is expected to remain pending a bond hearing.
