As the 4th of July holiday weekend approaches, agencies are preparing for an influx of motorists on roadways. To promote safety and save lives across the state, AAA-Alabama and wrecker services across the state are offering free towing services to keep impaired drivers off the roads.

Tow-for-Life is a public service program provided to AAA members as well as non-members. It is the 24th year for the program.

“This is a very dangerous time of year to be on the roads,” says Clay Ingram, AAA Alabama spokesperson. “We want to do everything possible to prevent people from drinking and driving, and this service should certainly help keep impaired drivers off the roads.  We want everyone to get home safely, so if you or someone you know has too much to drink this weekend, just call 1-800-AAA-HELP and we’ll help get you home safely.”

Drivers may call Tow-for-Life beginning at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3rd through 11:59 p.m. Friday, July 4th.

To receive free towing this holiday:

·         Call AAA-Alabama at 1-800-AAA-HELP and ask for Tow-for-Life. The vehicle must be operable.

·         The operator will ask for the driver’s name, home address, phone number, and location of the vehicle and driver.

·         A tow truck will be dispatched to the location and upon arrival, the wrecker driver will ask for ID and the keys.

·         The vehicle will be towed to the home of the driver.

·         Towing is provided at no charge up to 10 miles. After 10 miles, the customer is responsible for additional charges.
