1. The former Tuscaloosa man accused of intentionally leaving his 22 month old in a hot vehicle will remain behind bars until his case goes to a grand jury. A probable cause hearing was held yesterday for Justin Ross Harris. The 33 year-old is charged with murder in the death of Cooper Harris. The child was left in a vehicle for several hours last month in Georgia.

2. A Montgomery Police Lieutenant drowned on the Gulf Coast yesterday. Investigator say Rian Rider, 35, got caught in a rip current at Cotton Bayou Access in Orange Beach.

3. Hurricane Arthur came ashore last night near the southern end of North Carolina’s outer banks. The storm was packing winds at 100 miles an hour. Vacationers along the east coast have had to cut their 4th of July weekends short.

4. There are several events planned in central Alabama to celebrate the 4th of July, and many are free of charge. The Birmingham Zoo is one attraction offering free admission for retired and active U.S. Military members all weekend.

5. Member of the Democratic National Committee are headed to Birmingham to determine if the city can hold the 2016 convention. They’ll be in Birmingham July 21 and 22 before heading to Cleveland, Columbus, New York, Philadelphia and Phoenix.
