FAIRFIELD, AL -

UPDATE: July 7, 2014, 3:20pm CT:  The Fairfield Police Department reports 3 suspects have been arrested in this incident. Diamyn Rogers, 20, and a 17 year old, both of Hueytown, were charged with Reckless Endangerment. A third suspect was charged Monday, July 7, 2014. A felony arrest warrant was issued for Tyrese Vault, 20, of Birmingham. Vault is charged with Assault 2. The motive behind this incident is still under investigation.


The Fairfield Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting at Western Hills Mall. The shooting happened around 2:00 a.m.

Police Chief Leon Davis said about 50 people were in line outside the mall waiting to buy a retro pair of Air Jordan sneakers. The teenager was one of the people standing in line when he was shot in the foot.

Authorities are still trying to figure out what led to the shooting. Two people were taken into custody for questioning. So far, no charges have been filed.

Officers immediately sent people home and shut down the sale of the new shoes.

The teen victim was taken to Children’s of Alabama.
