University of Alabama running back Kenyan Drake has been charged with Obstructing Governmental Operations after police say he entered a crime scene without permission.

The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. Saturday near Kennedy’s Bar located at 2324 4th Street in Tuscaloosa.

Police say they were working a crime scene involving an officer-involved shooting, and marked the scene off with police tape as they investigated.

According to authorities, Kenyan Drake told officers he wanted to get his vehicle that was located in the crime scene area. Officers then informed Drake that he would not be able to until the Tuscaloosa County Homicide unit completed its investigation.

Investigators say Drake became upset and crossed the crime tape without permission. He was immediately arrested and taken into police custody.

Drake was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Following the arrest, Alabama head coach released the following statement:

"I'm aware of the situation with Kenyan and will handle it once I've had a chance to review all of the information and talk to the appropriate people."

Kenyan Drake is from Powder Spring, Georgia. The rising junior finished the 2013 Alabama football season with 694 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns.
