COLUMBUS, GA -

A search of the Chattahoochee River between Columbus and Phenix City has ended without turning up the body of a man who may - or may not have - jumped from the Dillingham Street Bridge Tuesday night,

Columbus Fire and EMS water rescue divers are back at the river Wednesday morning searching for any sign of a man, who witnesses claim jumped from the Bridge around 8:30p et Tuesday. When the Columbus Police Department first responded to the bridge Tuesday night, witnesses told them someone may have been videoing the jump from the Riverwalk. Crews search the river for a short time Tuesday before calling off the search.

There is conflicting information about whether the jump may have been a publicity stunt or other action. When WRBL News 3 first checked with Columbus police officials Wednesday morning, officials described the reported incident as being false. However, investigators were back at the river Wednesday morning searching the river.

Investigators could be seen near the Oglethorpe Bridge Wednesday morning. Search crews appeared to be working there way back upstream towards the Dillingham Street Bridge before calling off the search shortly before 11a et.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said he was staying by the phone Wednesday incase his services were needed.

No further details about Wednesday's continued search were available but a WRBL News 3 crew remains on-scene.
