New start and end times for Muscogee middle schools

The Muscogee County School District middle school will have new start and end times for the 2014 school year.

Middle schools across the district will start at 8:50 a.m., which is 10 minutes earlier than last year. Classes will end at 3:52 p.m,. which is 13 minutes earlier than last year.

The district says the new times will establish more continuity between middle and high school scheduling models. The middle school bell schedule is modified to reflect similar scheduling changes t made at the high school level and helps to facilitate efficient bus schedules. The middle school time change also allows school administrators to incorporate Professional Learning communities and Increased Learning Time at the middle school level during the work week.

Additionally, high schools will dismiss five minutes earlier than last year and breakfast will be served at elementary schools 15 minutes earlier.

Elementary School Breakfast: 7:15a
Elementary School Start Time: 8:00a
Elementary School End Time: 2:30p

Middle School Breakfast: 8:20a
Middle School Start Time: 8:50a
Middle School End Time: 3:52p

High School Breakfast: 7:55a
High School Start Time: 8:25a
High School End Time: 3:20p

Fox Elementary School, Spencer High School and Jordan High School operate under a School Improvement Grant and will have slightly different times:

Fox Elementary Breakfast: 7:15a
Fox Elementary Start: 8:00a
Fox Elementary End: 3:00p

Jordan High Breakfast: 7:50a
Jordan High Start: 8:05a
Jordan High End: 3:20p

Spencer High Breakfast: 7:50a
Spencer High Start: 8:05a
Spencer High End: 3:20p
