Gadsden, the county seat is roughly an hour northwest of the state’s most populous area , the Birmingham metropolis, and is nestled in a geographically different landscape teeming with flowing creeks, calm lakes and the second tallest waterfall in the state.  In recent years, officials with the  local Chamber of Commerce along with county leaders are focusing on certain events highlighting the county’s natural resources to attract more tourists to the area.  From the Barbarian Challenge to the annual Juneteenth Celebration event and much more, so far many of the public events have seen an increases in attendance every year attracting more people and money to the area..
