Traffic was tied up on Red Mountain Expressway in Birmingham Monday morning, due to an apparent two-car wreck.

The incident happened about 10:00 a.m., in the northbound lanes of the Elton B. Stephens Expressway, between 3rd Avenue South and University Boulevard.

Two cars apparently collided, sending one vehicle flipping over into a grassy area.

The other vehicle ended facing in the wrong direction in the northbound lanes.

It’s unclear whether there were any serious injuries.

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the wreck.
