PELHAM, AL -

This morning police officers were called to the First Baptist Church Annex in Pelham after voter arrived at the poll with a gun.

The same voter named Robert Kennedy was turned away during the Primary Election last month due to a gun displayed on his hip.

A sign outside the polling place says “Firearms prohibited in this facility.”

Today our cameras captured Kennedy showing up at the same polling place with members of the gun rights group called “Bama Carry.”

This time, Kennedy was allowed to vote, but not without controversy.

A polling worker confronted Kennedy about the gun and later called police.

Kennedy was not arrested, but he was asked to leave.

This week Alabama Attorney General Strange said that firearms are allowed at polling places. He did, however, clarify that this “depends on the nature of the location.”

According to Strange, polling sites that are located in places where guns are normally prohibited, such as a courthouse or school, will not change. His legal opinion states, “…they do not lose their ‘gun free’ status merely because an election is being conducted at the location.”

Strange also said polling places that are private property are an exception as the owner sees fit.
