REYNOLDS, GA -

Alabama's 13 sister station WRBL News 3 has obtained police video showing Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall being pulled over and cited for marijuana possession.

The video begins around 3 p.m. ET on July 11 as a Reynolds, Ga. police officer spots Marshall's Dodge Charger driving the opposite direction. The officer turns around his vehicle before stopping Marshall along Georgia Highway 96 for having tinted windows that were too dark. By 3:05 p.m. ET, the officer can be seen talking to Marshall. It's around this time the officer begins to smell marijuana in the car and questions Marshall about it, according to police Chief Lonnie Holder. A moment later Marshall exits the vehicle and is placed in handcuffs before presumingly being put in the back of the police car. Several officers spend the next twenty minutes searching the car.

Around 3:27 p.m. ET, Marshall is seen getting back into his car and driving off. Holder said Marshall was not arrested and written a citation for marijuana possession. The citation comes with a fine of a a thousand dollars. An additional fine of hundred dollars for the tinted windows was also written.

Before being released, Holder said he had a serious conversation with Marshall.

“I explained to Nick that I was really disappointed in him," Chief Lonnie Holder told WRBL News 3 Saturday. "I told him that there are a million kids that look up to him. He is a role model whether he wants to be or not."

Marshall was not arrested because he was in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, Holder explained.

Marshall was removed from the list of Auburn football players appearing this week at SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama after the incident, head coach Gus Malzahn told reporters Monday.

“I think it is a privilege and a reward to represent your team at SEC media days," Malzahn told reporters Monday. "Last Friday, he lost that privilege."

Marshall will not have to appear in Taylor County court in September as long as he pays his fines, according to Holder.
