BURGER BYTES: Wakeboard Cable System

Posted: Updated:
PELHAM, AL - There's a new twist on recreational water activities at oak mountain state park.

"We've had them as young as six and as old as 60's," Flip Side Water Sports owner Jeremy Talbot said.

Flip Side Water Sports has installed a wakeboard cable system. Talbot said this is a pilot program for the state of Alabama.

"It's something that's never been done before," Talbot said. "Part of our goal with the state, is to prove something that we already know, is that there is a demand for cable water sports in Alabama."

"I've been waiting for one to coming Alabama," wake boarder Will Koopman said.  "This is the only one. I've never been able to go to one in Georgia. A lot more convenient than having a boat."

Wakeboard cable skiing has all fun, without the hassle of dealing with a boat.

"It makes it a lot cheaper on gas, that's for sure," Talbot said.

"This is high up. It pulls you up instead of forward like a boat," Koopman added. "You can get a lot more air on the jump."
